Service Equals New

I’m involved with the Christian Campus Fellowship at MST in Rolla. Like most Christian organizations, we have small(ish) group Bible studies. I’ve been in quite a few Bible studies, and as important as they are, most of them are the same. Sure the subject matter is usually different, but it usually goes down like this: Hang out and talks a little bit, pray, maybe have some nice musical worship, talk/listen, pray, maybe have even split into smaller groups and pray for each other, hang out some more, go home. This semester was the first time I’ve been presented with a much different idea. Two of my good friends, Tara and Dani, decided to lead a group of kids focusing on being servants. It was aptly named “You Got Served.” So far, It’s been a huge blessing. God’s been using the group to touch people’s lives, and I know that this new way of thinking, simply being a servant, will not die with the group at the end of the semester.

I wonder why this whole serving thing was such a new idea for the rest of us. Every time I hear about a group of people radically serving other people, it sounds so….new. I wish it would become something that happens all the time instead of something that always seems new.
